Two members of the Saratoga Springs Black Lives Matter organization were in court Monday morning.
Founding member Lexis Figuereo is facing charges in Saratoga City Court related to recent city council meetings. He is accused of taking a microphone from someone during the public comment portion of a meeting back in April.
His sister and another member of Saratoga BLM, Chandler Hickenbottom, is facing similar charges. This came after a separate incident at a February city council meeting.
Saratoga Springs Public Safety Commissioner Jim Montagnino is pressing charges.
The mayor and other members of city council have said they disagree with the decision to criminally charge the activists.
They appeared at procedural hearings on Monday. Their next court appearance has not been set.
