Saratoga County DA looking into how Mavis handled limo
The Saratoga County district attorney is looking into the conduct of the Mavis Discount Tire employees who worked on the limousine involved in the Schoharie crash.
The 2018 tragedy killed 20 people.
District Attorney Karen Heggen told NewsChannel 13 reporter Dan Levy on Wednesday that she’s asked state police to provide her with all the information they’ve gathered on what went on when the limo was at the Mavis garage in Saratoga Springs.
The employees incriminated themselves during the trial of Nauman Hussain, the operator of the limo company that owned the vehicle. They admitted under oath that they committed fraud, billing Hussain for repair work on the limo that was never done.
Hussain is charged with 20 counts each of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. Defense attorney Lee Kindlon says Mavis is at fault for the crash, not his client.
