Saratoga County leaders, community meet to discuss bar closing times

There's a proposal on the table in Saratoga Springs to close bars at 2 a.m. November through April, and at 3 a.m. from May through October, with a 4 a.m. closing time on New Year's Eve.

There’s a proposal on the table in Saratoga County to limit alcohol sales at 2 a.m. for bars November through April, and at 3 a.m. from May through October, with a 4 a.m. time on New Year’s Eve.

People had a chance to speak their minds to the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors at a public hearing.

Some were spoke in favor of the change, but others preferred somewhere in the middle, such as a 3 a.m. closing time all year round.

Some Town Supervisors in attendance were worried not just the impact this will have in Saratoga Springs, where most bars close at 4 a.m., but on small taverns in the county too.

A vote is expected at a board meeting next week, if it gets passed the New York State Liquor Authority will then have to vote.
