Saratoga County man gets 6 months in jail in drunken crash that hurt two children
The Saratoga County man who admitted driving drunk and causing a crash over the summer that injured two children got 6 months in jail.
Matthew J. Murry, 40, of Gansevoort, was sentenced in Saratoga County Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty in October to first-degree vehicular assault.
The crash happened on Aug. 7 around 4:30 p.m. on Pettis Road in the town of Wilton. Murry had told investigators he swerved his vehicle to avoid a deer. The truck left the road, struck a pole and overturned.
Two children, ages 10 and 7, were thrown from the vehicle. The 10-year-old broke his arm and clavicle, according to police. The 7-year-old was evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police did not state whether they were his children.
Murry will also serve 5 years of post-release supervision.
