Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrest man for violating order of protection, damaging property
35-year-old Nicholas J. Murtlow of Galway was arrested on Friday for violating an order of protection, damaging property, and intentionally attempting to prevent a person from calling 911 by disabling their communication equipment.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office says Murtlow failed to stay away from the protected person on July 26.
In addition, he committed a specified offense, having previously been convicted of a specified offense within the last five years, said officials.
Authorities say Murtlow is accused of damaging property belonging to another person in an amount exceeding $250, and also intentionally disabling a person’s communication-type equipment to prevent them from calling 911.
Murtlow was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, third-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and aggravated family offense.
Officials say he was arraigned in Charlton Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further action in the matter.
