Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office mourns loss of retired K-9

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of a retired K-9 deputy.

Brodie started his career in 2013 when he was selected for the Sheriff’s K-9 school and was trained in patrol/tracking and narcotics detection, according to the department’s Facebook page. His handlers were Sgt. Joe Shields and Deputy Dave Zecca until Brodie retired in 2017 for medical reasons.

He spent his retirement with Deputy Zecca and his family.

Brodie was 12 years old.
