A new and controversial rule is now in place in Saratoga Springs.
The Saratoga Springs City Council just passed a new ordinance that bans people from carrying guns – even legal licensed firearms – while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
However, there are questions about how it will be enforced, and the challenge police face to find people who are drunk and carrying a firearm.
The members in favor agree – the language isn’t perfect – and suggested wanding people upon entering bars to search for firearms.
However, something had to be done after recent shootouts in the city, they said.
