Saratoga Springs City Council discusses earlier closing times for bars

In a vote of 3-2, the motion proposed by the Council to make changes to Saratoga’s night life failed.
Before the meeting several members of the Saratoga Springs business community rallied against an effort to close bars earlier.
The city proposed shutting bars down in Saratoga Springs by 2 a.m.
Supporters and opponents were gathering at a Saratoga Springs City Council meeting on Tuesday evening to make sure their voices are heard.
This comes after last month’s incident where an off-duty sheriff’s deputy from Vermont got into a fight with a group of people downtown Saratoga on Caroline and Broadway. Police rushed to the area after they heard gunshots. After commanding the off-duty officer to drop his weapon, police say he motioned toward them – which resulted in Saratoga police shooting the off-duty deputy.
