Saratoga Springs Finance Commissioner Minita Sangvhi was shocked when a publishing company in India was interested in her book – “Happy Endings.”
Sangvhi started the project years ago. She was on a kick of reading romance novels, when she noticed there were no lesbian stories about Indian women.
Her book is story about two best friends who are pulled apart and reunite in a chance meeting.
The book is hitting number one spots for LGBTQ books on Amazon. It’s getting rave reviews in major Indian publications. It is said to be the first lesbian romance novel in India.
Sanghvi – a Skidmore College professor – is the first woman of color and openly gay member of the Saratoga Springs City Council.
This book is a way for her to continue to celebrate who she is, in a culture that’s not always accepting of that.
