Saratoga Springs man admits to murder of ex-partner, agrees to 23 years to life in prison

Mabb pleads guilty, will get 23 years to life

Sebastian Mabb pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for killing his ex-girlfriend and will be sentenced to 23 years to life.

A Saratoga Springs man has admitted to killing his former partner and mother of his child in exchange for a sentence of 23 years to life in prison.

Sebastian Mabb pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court on Thursday to second-degree murder in the death of Brianna Craig inside a home at Vanderbilt Terrace on Feb. 6. Craig was smothered with a pillow, according to law enforcement sources.

The couple shared a child together.

Because of a history of domestic violence in their relationship, Craig had an order of protection that was supposed to keep Mabb away from her.

Family members were in the courtroom wearing yellow T-shirts that said “Justice for Brianna.”
Her mother, Helen Travis, said after the hearing that it is very difficult to sit in the same courtroom as the person who took her daughter away. She is not satisfied with the punishment.

“We were served life. She was served life. He should be served life. But unfortunately, in our justice system that’s not the case. So you going to have to be happy with something, you know, it’s better than nothing,” she said.

Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 5.
