Saratoga Springs man dies after being shot by roommate with BB gun, arrest made shortly after, police say
Saratoga Springs Police Department says a man is dead Sunday morning after his roommate shot him with a BB gun at their residence on Warren Street.
Police say the victim has been identified as Michael Collins, 27, of Saratoga Springs.
The call came in to police stating the victim was bleeding and experiencing difficulty breathing, said officials.
Upon arrival, officers say they found the victim unconscious and unresponsive.
They say emergency medical personnel from the Saratoga Springs Fire Department arrived quickly to the scene and took Collins to Albany Medical Center for urgent care.
Police say despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to the hospital.
After the incident, 26-year-old Brendan Carl of Saratoga Springs was taken into custody, said police.
They say Carl has been charged with second-degree manslaughter and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Carl was arraigned in City Court of Saratoga Springs and remanded to the custody of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, said officials.
Authorities say bail has been set at $25,000 cash, $50,000 partial bond, or $300,000 bond.
