Saratoga Springs Police: two posed as rideshare drivers

Saratoga Springs Police say two people took fares as rideshare drivers, but didn’t have the appropriate license.

Police got complaints about drivers receiving fares without the rideshare app.

Najeebullah Afghan, 32, of Schenectady was charged with criminal impersonation. Police say he is not an operator with Uber or Lyft and agreed to take a fare as a taxi without a proper Hack License.

Francis Egan, 65, of Saratoga Springs was ticketed. Police say he agreed to take a fare without having a proper Hack License, as defined in city code.

They both received tickets to appear in Saratoga Springs City Court.

(Editors Note: A prior version of this story said both men were arrested. Egan was only ticketed)
