Schenectady condemns brick house in Stockade due to structural issues
City engineers have condemned the two-family, two-story brick house at 15 Monroe Street in Schenectady, citing dangerous structural failures.
The brick facade on the front and sides of the building have visibly bowed.
Gas and electric have been shut off to the building.
Evacuated tenants, according to Mayor Gary McCarthy, have been placed in another building owned by the same landlord.
It’s unclear at this point whether or not the building can be repaired and salvaged.
