Man pleads guilty to role in killing of 15-year-old Shaker student

Sincere Cancer has pleaded guilty to his role in the killing of 15-year-old Shaker student

A Schenectady man has admitted to his role in the shooting death of a 15-year-old Shaker High School student in 2021.

Sincere Cancer, 22, pleaded guilty in Albany County Court on Wednesday to second-degree attempted murder in the killing of Destiny Greene.

Cancer was with a friend, Brandon Rivera, who set up a Facebook Marketplace sale with plans to commit a robbery. Greene was sitting in a car on Wilbur Street just after 9 p.m. on May 24, 2021, when she was struck and killed, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.

Cancer faces 25 years when sentenced on June 18, along with five years of post-release supervision.

Greene’s family members were in the courtroom. After court, Cancer stopped and told the family “I’m sorry for your loss” as he was led out of the courtroom.

Rivera was sentenced in January to 25 years in prison.
