The Albany County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested Shuaib A. Alradee, 32, of Schenectady on various charges, including assaulting a police officer, from an incident that happened Sunday morning in the Town of Colonie.
Deputies say they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2011 Nissan Sentra traveling eastbound on Troy Schenectady Road near Wade Road in Colonie around 10:17 a.m.
Sheriff Apple says the vehicle refused to stop, fled from deputies onto Interstate 87 South, and drove to a dead end on Old Niskayuna Road next to the economy parking lot at Albany Airport.
Alradee refused to exit his vehicle and fought with deputies to prevent being arrested, said officials.
Apple says a deputy was injured from the encounter and treated on scene by Colonie EMS.
Alradee was taken into custody after, said the Sheriff’s Office.
Alradee was charged with the following:
- Second-degree assault on a police officer
- Second-degree obstructing governmental administration
- Third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle
- Resisting arrest
- Various New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law violations
Sheriff Apple says he was taken to Albany County Jail as a pre-arraigned detainee. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Town of Colonie Court at a later date.
