Schenectady man wants to lower BAC from .08% to .05%

New York is renowned for its vibrant nightlife and bustling social scene – especially on holiday weekends.
William Aiken of Schenectady is on a mission to make the state safer by pushing for a reduction in the blood alcohol content limit to .05%. The current blood alcohol limit in the state is .08%.
Aiken firmly believes that lowering the BAC to .05% will send a powerful message about the importance of responsible drinking.
“The way I see it, this is the silver bullet to stop drunk driving,” he said.
The proposal is getting mixed reaction on social media.
As the debate over this proposal continues, Aiken standing strong in his beliefs.
NewsChannel 13 called multiple bars for a statement, but they said they wouldn’t be able to comment until after Labor Day.
