Police arrest 19-year-old in connection to Schenectady homicide

Schenectady Police tell us they have made an arrest in connection to the homicide that happened on Van Vranken Avenue on Wednesday afternoon. Cecil A. Toland, 19, of Schenectady was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Cecil A. Toland, 19, of Schenectady was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police responded around 3:24 p.m. to a report of a male shot on 1807 Van Vranken Avenue, which the victim was identified as Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. of Schenectady.

Vasquez Jr. was taken to Ellis Hospital, where he died a short time later.
