A ceremony honoring 86 lost students who died fighting World War II was held Friday evening in Schenectady.

The boys and young men all went to Mont Pleasant High School.

Friday’s ceremony was sparked with the recent discovery of a wall plaque, sitting in a closet gathering dust.

The plaque was apparently removed during a renovation years ago, and placed in a closet. It was recently discovered again, with a custodian breaking the exciting news to history teacher Steve Balogh.

Intensely interested in the stories of our military, and a veteran himself, Balogh immediately started asking questions.

Balogh is dedicated to keeping their stories alive. Over the past couple of years, he’s enlisted the help of others and gathered as much information about the 86 as possible.

Learn more about these boys who gave their lives, and whats going to happen to the plaque that honors them, by watching the video of Mark Mulhollands story.
