Schenectady shooting under investigation
A shooting is under investigation in Schenectady that sent one man to the hospital.
The Schenectady Police Department responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the area of 2525 Broadway around 4:30 Sunday morning. A large crowd was clearing the area from a party inside.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found multiple shell casings in the street. The victim was located sometime later at Ellis Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg, officials said. The person’s injuries are non-life threatening.
During the investigation, officers approached a car with two people who appeared to be unconscious inside.
Police woke up the people inside the vehicle and spotted a handgun inside, officials said.
One of the occupants, 25-year-old Dione Kowalchyk, is facing weapon charges.
