The new speed limit in Schenectady will go into effect on Saturday.

The city will lower the speed limit from 30 to 25 miles per hour.

Schenectady is now the latest city here in the Capital Region to lower its speed limit. Albany and Hudson recently did the same.

Schenectady city leaders say that other places that have lowered their speed limit have seen a positive impact on pedestrian safety.
