School speed zone cameras give Albany $1.5 million

The city of Albany says they’ve collected just under $2 million from its school zone speeding cameras.
The cameras went online last fall.
Roughly 89,000 tickets have been issued since then, the city said.
Drivers who go at least 10 miles above the 20 mile per hour speed limit are ticketed.
Each ticket is $50. The city gets $17 from that. The rest goes to the camera company.
There are 26 cameras in the city, a city leader told NewsChannel 13. The city has budgeted $6.2 million in traffic camera revenue for fiscal year 2025.
