Around 14,000 people in the Capital Region work in industries directly impacted by tariffs, Sen. Chuck Schumer said.
New York U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer was in Albany Monday morning.
Schumer was at Yono’s Restaurant with Capital Region businesses.
The businesses are seeing price increases that hurt families and local jobs, because of President Donald Trump’s tariffs, they said.
“Because so much of our country in this interconnected world depends on imports of one sort or another, everything is affected,” Schumer said. “The average Capital Region family, the average New York family, will pay about $5,000 more a year for the things they’ve always been accustomed to buying.”
