Second person indicted in death of Albany woman

A grand jury has indicted a second man in connection with the death of a woman killed after her ex-boyfriend was sentenced for assaulting her.

Patrick Dean, 37, was arrested last month in the death of Sky Lemmons-Dixon, the Times Union reported. Lemmons-Dixon, 23, was shot in her State Street Apartment last Christmas Day. She died on Jan. 1.

Her ex-boyfriend, Houston Ketter III, was sentenced in December to 50 years to life in prison for assaulting her and another woman. In one instance, he heated up a pot, then placed the hot pot on various parts of her body before using it to break her arm, investigators said.

Lemmons-Dixon provided testimony to the grand jury in his trial, but she skipped appearing for his actual trial.

Dean has been charged with first-degree murder, possession of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence, according to the Times Union. He is in Albany County Jail without bail.

Meanwhile, the paper reported that the district attorney dropped the murder charge against Michael Verlack, who was the person initially arrested in her death.
