A Service of remembrance for crime victims

The service took place in the Town of Wilton and was attended by victims, families, and law enforcement agencies.

In the Town of Wilton Sunday afternoon, the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office held a service of remembrance in honor of crime victims.

D.A. Karen Heggen led the service with multiple law enforcement agencies in attendance along with crime victims and families.

During on her speeches, Heggen said that crime can “often leaving lasting physical, emotional, and social changes.”

“I cannot understate how much of a toll these acts of violence committed against me have taken on. I’m not the same person he was before. It’s incredibly, incredibly difficult to explain how much I’ve changed in almost two years,” said a victim of sexual assault.

Everyone in attendance lit candles to honor the victims.

In the middle of the room there was a scroll. The scroll was filled names crime victims. That scroll grows each year.
