Several options weighed as trio of Albany Catholic schools consider merger

A meeting was held Tuesday evening to discuss the possible merger of three Catholic schools in Albany.
Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany is seeking the possible merger. It would affect All Saints Catholic Academy, Blessed Sacrament and Mater Christi.
There is currently a $1 million deficit between the three schools, according to the Diocese.
One option would make two schools pre-K through fifth grade and the second school a middle school up to eighth grade.
The other option would close one school, then make a second school K-8 or pre-K through eighth grade. Another would be fifth grade or pre-K through fifth grade.
The hope is a final decision to be made by March 15.
