Severe weather moved through parts of the Capital Region on Thursday, knocking down trees, and causing tens of thousands of homes and businesses to lose power.
NewsChannel 13 received viewer photos of vivid lightning, large hail, and trees down.
One of those trees came down on a home at 647 Hudson Avenue in Stillwater around 6:15 p.m.
The homeowners told NewsChannel 13 the husband heard a crackling noise and told his wife to run.
The tree fell on the room above the kitchen and punctured two small holes in the roof.
Strong winds caused the tree to fall from the neighbor’s yard. They are away on vacation and the homeowners haven’t been able to reach them.
Cleanup crews were there earlier today, but had to stop because of the dark. They were planning to return on Friday. Luckily, no one was hurt.
