Shenanigans manager needs to find new home to get out of jail

The general manager of Shenanigans Gentlemen’s Club needs to find another place to live – other than less than 300 feet from the business – if he is to be freed from federal custody.

Luiggi Canessa is accused of selling meth to an undercover officer in February at his home, which is less than 300 feet from the Colonie business. Canessa also admitted to investigators that he distributed meth, cocaine and marijuana from the residence, according to court documents.

Canessa remains in federal custody as he has been deemed a potential flight risk. A detention hearing was held in federal court on Monday. Judge Christian Hummel asked if Canessa can find a different living arrangement, court documents said.

The judge granted a request by Canessa’s attorney, Assistant Federal Public Defender Jeremy Sporn, for an extension. Canessa will be back in U.S. District Court in Albany on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

The club is under investigation since late 2023 for allegations of drug trafficking and sex trafficking and wire fraud at the business, court documents showed.
