Sheriff: Amsterdam woman got welfare benefits while living in Vermont
An Amsterdam woman is accused of receiving welfare benefits while she was living in Vermont.
An investigation by the Montgomery County Department of Social Services and law enforcement found that Cassie Waldynski, 38, had applied for and received Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits when she was not living in New York, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Waldynski was charged with welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing. She was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and released on her own recognizance.
