Sheriff: Corinth woman neglected seven horses, goat and pig

A Corinth woman is accused of neglecting seven horses, a goat and a pig.
Officers responded to an animal complaint on March 24 just before 11:30 a.m. on Heath Road, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. Tamara DeStanko, 57, is charged with nine counts of over driving, torturing and injuring animals-failure to provide proper sustenance.
DeStanko voluntarily surrendered the horses to Equine Rescue Resource in Pine Bush. Two of them were taken to Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Saratoga Springs for evaluation, according to investigators.
Equine Rescue Resource said an aged stallion was not able to recover and was humanely euthanized. The second horse, a gelding, is being treated, and the center hopes it can be released in the near future.
The pig and goat were turned over to separate volunteers.
DeStanko was released on an appearance ticket and is due in Corinth Town Court at a later date.
