Sheriff: Four arrested in separate drunk driving crashes in Saratoga County

Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested four people in the last week after alleged drunken driving-related crashes.

In all four, the driver is accused of having a blood alcohol concentration of 0.18% or greater, according to police. The legal limit is 0.08.%

John V. Bonnie III, 36, of Halfmoon, was charged on Oct. 19 with DWI, moving from lane unsafely, failing to use designated lane and speeding after a crash in the town of Halfmoon. 

Jason P. Gibbins, 51, was charged with aggravated DWI, operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of .08% or greater and moving from lane unsafely. He was arrested after a crash on Oct. 25 in the village of Schuylerville.

Katelyn M. Curtis, 26, of Mechanicville, was charged with aggravated DWI, DWI, operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of .08% or greater moving from lane unsafely, after a crash in the town of Halfmoon on Oct. 26.

Nicholas A. Fjellman, 39, of Middle Grove, was charged with aggravated DWI DWI, operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of .08% or greater, and failing to use designated lane, after a motor vehicle crash in the town of Greenfield on Oct. 26.

“There is no excuse for getting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle while intoxicated or impaired by drugs,” said Sheriff Michael H. Zurlo in a statement. “Every one of these arrests involved a motor vehicle crash, some of which resulted in injury. Please, please, take the time to plan for a sober driver or ride. Your life or someone else’s may depend on it.”
