Sheriff: Gansevoort man drove drunk, crashed into utility pole

A Gansevoort man is accused of driving drunk and crashing into a utility pole in Greenfield. The crash happened just after 5 p.m. on Wilton Road. Michael P. Hurst, 44, left the road and crashed into a National Grid utility pole, which pulled down wires, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. Sunday on Wilton Road, said investigators, and it pulled down wires.

The driver, Michael P. Hurst, 44, allegedly had a blood alcohol level of 0.20%. The legal limit is 0.08%. Hurst was also speeding, investigators said.

Hurst was charged with aggravated DWI, operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.08% or greater, speeding and failure to use designated lane.

He was released on appearance tickets and is due in Greenfield Town Court at a later date.
