Guilderland Police investigate stabbing, shooting at a music festival event

Guilderland Police tell us there was both a shooting and a stabbing incident that happened at a music festival on Depot Road in Guilderland early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to 5777 Depot Road around 1:49 a.m. to an organized music festival that was ongoing for reports of a stabbing.

Authorities say upon arrival, they located a 23-year-old from Rome, NY with a stab wound to the head area. The victim was treated on scene and taken to a local hospital for additional treatment.

Police say while they were still on the scene, around 2:06 a.m., they heard sounds that were consistent with gunshots in the area. They say initial investigation revealed that a second victim, a 21-year-old male from Brooklyn, sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder, and they were treated and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Officials say due to the size of the crowd at the event, and the circumstances surrounding both the stabbing and shooting, mutual aid was requested at the scene and the event was promptly cleared.

No suspects are in custody at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing for both the stabbing and shooting, according to police.

Officer Scarano says both incidents are considered to be isolated to this event and there is no reason to believe that there is risk to the safety of the community.
