Six guns seized at Albany airport in 2024
Six guns were seized by Transportation Security Administration officers at Albany International Airport in 2024 – an increase of two from the previous year.
A total of 23 guns were seized at Upstate New York airport security checkpoints last year. That is also an increase of 20 from last year. It ties the record of 23 – set in 2022.
Nationwide, a total of 6,678 firearms at airport checkpoints. That is a slight decrease from the 6,737 seized in 2023.
“Most people claim that they forgot that they had their gun with them. It is careless and irresponsible to not know where your gun is. Responsible gun owners know where their gun is at all times. And they know not to bring it to an airport checkpoint,” said Bart R. Johnson, TSA Federal Security Director for Upstate New York, in a statement.
