Some residents able to move back in at apartment complex in Malta
Residents who live at Building Two at the Ellsworth Apartment complex in Malta were forced to evacuate Thursday following an officer involved shooting. However, some residents said they received a phone call Friday evening from the apartment’s management company telling them they can now move back in.
The apartment sustained significant water damage after the apartment’s sprinkler system was activated during the officer involved shooting incident forcing some residents without a place to stay.
Restoration company Quick Response has been working on the water damage since Thursday night and they said for the apartments that have water damage, it could be a couple of weeks before residents can return home.
“It just depends on each department apartment, how much water got in there and the water might have just gotten to the front door. It might have gotten all the way to the bathrooms, bedrooms. ” said Quick Response’s COO Frank Lara.
Residents who are not allowed back are forced to stay elsewhere, with the property’s management company Prime offering residents a discounted rate at a local hotel but not offering to pay for it.
