St. Peter’s Health Partners announced it will stop hiring travel nurses who live within 50 miles of the hospital where they’d be working at.
The policy will also apply to the Syracuse region.
The policy is meant to promote fairness toward the in-house staff, they said.
“Our nurses are the heart of our health systems, they are compassionate healers. We are deeply appreciative of their commitment and resilience, especially over the past few years,” President and CEO Dr. Steven Hanks said in a statement.
