State of emergency declared in Warren County after storm

Thousands of homes and businesses in Warren County remained without power Wednesday after severe storms pushed through the area.

Thousands of people remained without power in Warren County on Wednesday afternoon after Tuesday’s severe storms. A state of emergency was declared.

The Stewart’s off Exit 25 in Chestertown was one of the only gas stations with power in northern Warren County, and it was busy all day Wednesday. Drivers were getting gas for their cars and generators, and they were buying food, water and more.

Almost 100% of Chestertown, Horicon and Johnsburg lost power, according to Warren County Administrator John Taflan. These are the most northern parts of the county, he said.
Around 40% of the entire county was out in total.
