State Police arrest three people for allegedly driving drunk with children in the vehicle

State Police have arrested three people recently for allegedly driving while intoxicated with children in their vehicles.

Andrew P. Smith, 36, of Troy, was stopped on Hoosick Street in Brunswick around 12:30 a.m. on July 21. He was taken to the State Police station, where he recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.27%. – over three times the legal limit. In addition, police said Smith’s license is revoked because of a previous DWI conviction.

Smith was charged with felony DWI, endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated unlicensed operation and traffic violations. He was released on an appearance ticket and due in Brunswick Town Court on Aug. 7.

Kane A. Burt, 22, of Troy, was stopped on July 20 around 9:20 on Aviation Road in Queensbury. Police said he was intoxicated and had three children in the vehicle under the age of 16. He was ticketed and due in Queensbury Town Court on July 29. 

On July 21, 2024, just after midnight, police stopped a vehicle driven by Joel J. Shattuck, 47, of Queensbury on Saratoga Road in Wilton. His blood alcohol concentration was 0.17% — more than twice the legal limit.
