State Police: Johnstown Police officer shoots, kills individual after call for assault
One person is dead after being shot by a Johnstown Police officer Sunday morning, according to State Police.
Johnstown Police officers were responding to an emergency call for an assault on Washington Street shortly before 8 a.m. when an individual hit a responding officer with a weapon. The officer shot the attacker, who was taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital where he died a short time later, State Police said.
The officer and a resident at the home were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. State Police said the incident is still being investigated.
The name of the person shot and killed by Johnstown Police is not being released at this time.
