State suspends license of Maple Leaf Childcare in Malta
The state suspended the license of the Maple Leaf Childcare Center in Malta effective on Wednesday.
The Office of Child and Family Services website has stated violations on May 9 that include corporal punishment, failure to report abuse or maltreatment of children and failure to notify parents of a serious incident. There is also a May 7 violation about toilet training that states “methods of discipline, interaction or toilet training which frighten, demean or humiliate a child are prohibited.”
The day care’s suspension will last until the Office of Child and Family Services has determined that the condition that led to the suspension has been corrected.
The state may opt to revoke the license permanently.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated it was the same location where a woman is accused of slapping a child. That alleged incident happened at the Halfmoon location.
