Stefanik introduces legislation to help women get paid fairly

North Country Rep. Elise Stefanik is introducing legislation, with the goal of making sure women get equal pay for equal work.

Stefanik introduced the Wage Equity Act on Friday.

The bill encourages employers to evaluate their pay practices and eliminate pay disparities in their workplaces, while empowering employees to negotiate pay based on their qualifications and merit.

The legislation comes in response to the Democrats’ proposed Paycheck Fairness Act.
