Stefanik’s UN Ambassador confirmation vote set for April 2

A date has finally been set for the last member of President Donald Trump’s cabinet to join the administration.

Rep. Elise Stefanik will face a confirmation vote April 2.

Stefanik was the first cabinet pick to be announced. She was picked to be the ambassador for the United Nations.

Republican lawmakers have delayed her confirmation for months, as they look to maintain their slim majority in the House of Representatives.

Once confirmed, Stefanik will have to resign from her seat in New York’s 21st Congressional District. That will open a 10-day window for Gov. Kathy Hochul to schedule a special election to replace her. That election must happen within the following 70 to 80 days.
