Structure fire in Mechanicville displaces family early Saturday morning
NewsChannel 13 has learned that there was a structure fire early Saturday morning in the city of Mechanicville.
Authorities said the 3rd alarm fire was on Saratoga Avenue on the corner of Farrell Street.
The call first came in at 8:46 a.m. and firefighters had it under control at 9:15 a.m. There was mutual aid on the scene from six other departments.
There were no injuries to any of the firefighters or anyone inside the home. But the Mechanicville Fire Department said approximately five people are displaced from the home.
The home next door to where the fire was, was exposed to the fire and has damage on the outside too.
Mechanicville Fire Department’s Deputy Chief Matt Dunn said that the home is not a total loss but will need repairs.
The Bleau Truesell family lived in one of the apartments and said that their home in destroyed.
In a statement to NewsChannel 13 the family said “The loss of their home is devastating to them, but they are happy everyone is okay, including their beloved dog who was rescued by the next door neighbor. The outpour of love and support from their neighbors in Mechanicville as well as the town of Waterford where they grew up has been unmatched. At this time, they will be staying with various friends and family until a more permanent solution is found.”
The family from the home has set up a Go Fund Me page where people can donate.
The Mechanicville Fire Department said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
