Albany Police investigating three separate shootings

One of the shootings turned deadly killing a man in his 40s.

Albany Police have confirmed three shooting incidents over this past weekend.

One of the shootings happened at an apartment building at the intersection of Livingston Avenue and North Pearl Street turned deadly.

“It sounded like pow, pow, pow. Like fireworks,” one neighbor said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 49-year-old male who had been shot multiple times. That man was rushed to Albany Medical Center where he later died.

NewsChannel 13 spoke with Lulu who is a resident of the building where the shooting happened.

“I did hear sirens, like, to my window coming out and we did see flashing lights,” Lulu said.

Another shooting happened at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Lark Street. When officers responded to the scene Saturday night, they found a 34-year-old man who was shot in the foot. That man was rushed to Albany Medical Center where his condition is unknown.

NewsChannel 13 spoke with Frank Scavio who is the owner of Paesan’s Pizza. Another shooting happened across the street from Scavio’s storefront early Saturday morning.

“It’s a major issue. I think it’s a crisis, and this is recurring constant every day. It’s just scary,” Scavio said.

This shooting happened in Madison Avenue Park and left a 20-year-old man in the hospital.

Scavio said with all of this recent crime by his store his sales have dropped.  

“We are in crisis mode at the moment, right now. It just keeps escalating and escalating. And it’s a scary, scary time for my employees and scared for customers. Now, that is not a good place to be in right now,” Scavio said.

NewsChannel 13 was at the scene of another incident on Saturday night in Albany at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Henry Johnson Blvd where there was an active police presence. One neighbor said that she saw a man fire his weapon.

NewsChannel 13 have reached out to Albany Police but are still waiting for a response on this incident.
