Surgery successful on puppy hurt in Greene County plane crash
The 4-month-old puppy hurt in Sunday’s plane crash in Greene County has completed surgeries to repair his two broken legs.
The puppy, named Whiskey, was hurt in the crash Sunday in wooded area in the town of Windham. Seuk Kim, who was from Springfield Virginia, was transporting three dogs from a high-kill shelter to Albany International Airport. They would then be taken to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley.
Whiskey is being treated at Pieper Veterinary in Middletown, Connecticut. The surgeries were successful, according to Jesse Ferguson, a spokesman for the veterinary center.
“His brave little heart and incredible spirit have inspired everyone who has come into contact with him. While it will take time for his legs to fully heal and his recovery will be a long road for this little pup, his surgery team is very optimistic,” he said.
The shelter said it is doing everything it can to help Whiskey.
One dog named Lisa died in the crash. Pluto, a Yorkie terrier mix, has some bruises and internal and external bleeding and will need treatment for pulmonary contusions.
The dogs will be put up for adoption once they have healed.
