Suspect arrested in Albany homicide

A man has been arrested in Albany’s first homicide of the year.

Kerdel Young, 37, is accused of shooting Anthony Dias, 39, of Watervliet at Sherman and Quail streets, last Thursday afternoon.

Dias was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pair knew each other, and had been involved in a dispute, police said.

Young’s vehicle was identified one day after the shooting, said Albany Police, who add a legally-owned gun they think was used in the shooting was found inside.

Young was charged with murder and sent to the Albany County Jail.
