Suspects extradited from Rensselaer for Connecticut murder

Two people in Rensselaer have been arrested in connection with a murder in Connecticut.

Two men from Venezuela have been extradited from Rensselaer to Connecticut in connection with a murder.

The 22- and 24-year-old men were booked on arrest warrants for larceny and identity theft, among other charges, police said.

As NewsChannel 13 reported last week, Rensselaer Police got a call from Stamford Police that a credit card taken from a murder victim was being used at the Rensselaer Train Station. That murder victim had been shot at a hotel in Stamford early last week.
The two suspects were arrested minutes later, as they walked on Elm Street near the train station. They allegedly had two children with them, ages 1 and 3.

The suspects are in this country illegally from Venezuela, investigators said. Both are affiliated with Tren de Aragua, a gang often associated with murder, drugs and human trafficking.

The pair is being held in jail, each on a $2 million bond, according to Stamford Police.

The two are due back in court next month.
