SUV runs stop sign, hits police car in Pittsfield

An SUV ran a stop sign and hit a police car in Pittsfield on Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened near East Housatonic Street and Bartlett Avenue, NewsChannel 13’s media partners at the Berkshire Eagle reported.
The Hindsdale officers and the people in the SUV were all taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries.
One officer was set to return to work on Friday. The other one had a regular day off.
The condition of the people in the SUV was not available. The driver, Dr. Jeffery Leitman, was cited for a stop sign violation.
Police don’t think speed played a role.
