Since its inception in 2006, the Albany All Stars Roller Derby (AASRD) has been a force to be reckoned with in the Capital District. Established by a small but determined group of six skaters, the league has grown exponentially, now boasting over 50 skaters and a dedicated network of volunteers, referees, and non-skating officials, from its early days practicing in parking lots to its current home at the Washington Ave. Armory, AASRD has remained a dynamic and competitive presence in the roller derby community.

AASRD’s commitment to growth and excellence has propelled it onto the global stage. In 2017, the team competed in a two-day tournament in Namur, Belgium, marking one of their most significant achievements. Their affiliation with the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) has allowed them to compete against teams from across the U.S. and internationally, further solidifying their reputation as a skilled and formidable squad.

Beyond the sport, the Albany All Stars are deeply rooted in their community. They participate in numerous local events and fundraisers, ensuring that their impact extends beyond the track. A portion of the proceeds from every event is donated to charity.
