Lacing up a pair of skates and gliding effortlessly across the ice might seem simple for seasoned skaters, but for first-timers, it can be quite the challenge! This week, our very own Tamara Starr took on the frosty adventure of ice skating for the latest edition of Tamara Tries!

Invited by the Corinth Youth Hockey Association, Tamara stepped onto the rink with excitement—though not without a few nerves. “I may not be the next Olympic champion, but I’m ready to give it my best shot,” she said, determined to conquer the ice.

The Corinth Youth Hockey Association has been a staple in the community for over 40 years. It offers boys and girls a chance to enjoy the sport in an affordable and family-friendly environment. Unlike competitive travel teams, Corinth’s program focuses on recreational hockey, ensuring every weekend feels like a true winter classic. The organization loans protective equipment at no cost and keeps ice rental fees low by hosting most games and practices on outdoor rinks.

With a non-checking format and teams divided by age groups, the league fosters a welcoming atmosphere for new and experienced players alike. At the heart of the season is the pursuit of the coveted Corinth Cup, the ultimate prize in the local championship.
