Woman sues Hudson Valley Community College and former president

Woman says she was wrongfully terminated and was targeted.

A former employee of Hudson Valley Community College is suing the school and former college President Roger Ramsammy.

This former employee claims she faced retaliation and was wrongfully terminated.

She says the college president targeted her.

Ramsammy was removed from the school after 13Investigates unconvered a scandal.

The woman who filed the lawsuit held an executive position at HVCC and claims she was just trying to do her job. She noticed a discrepancy regarding the hiring process of a job candidate. She brought it up with Ramsammy and that’s where things allegedly went south.

13Investigates is not naming the woman who filed the lawsuit.

She claims the former president “took no action” and “expressly refused to take any action.”

There are not many details in the lawsuit about the discrepancy involving the job candidate, other than it had to do with discrimination.

Ramsammy allegedly told the woman she was “too much work.”

The former president was fired last summer after 13Investigates found out a sexual harassment claim was filed against him. The woman in this lawsuit has no involvement with that claim.

She states Ramsammy “demeaned and demoted” her. Staffers were allegedly told to ignore her emails, ignore her phone calls and cancel her meetings. This left her with no work to do.

She was fired in November 2022.

Now, she wants almost $1 million in lost wages, benefits and damages in this lawsuit.

She claims she had clean performance reviews during her six years at the college.

13Investigates reached out to each party involved. Ramsammy’s personal lawyer and the college’s lawyer did not respond to my inquiry for comment. The woman’s attorney declined to give a statement.
